Carolina Animal Protection Society has set adoption fees of $125.00 for dogs plus the cost of heartworm preventative and $50.00 for cats.  These adoption fees are tax deductible and help rescue other future animals in need.  These fees help defray the costs of food, shelter, medical care and spay/neuter for our dogs/cats. All adoption fees are tax deductible, and are used entirely for the welfare of the animals.

We require a adoption application for dogs and cats .  The following information is requested so that we can assist you in the selection of a new pet.

COMPLETION OF THE APPLICATION DOES NOT GUARANTEE ADOPTION OF A CAROLINA ANIMAL PROTECTION SOCIETY ANIMAL.

Please be patient with us and the questions we ask.  To ensure the well-being of all involved, we want to know about you and your home so that we can be sure to help you find a pet that will both make you happy and be happy in your home. Yes, sometimes we may seem a little fussy in the type of home we want for our animals. But, we have gotten to know them and are more than just a little attached, so please bear with us.

Thank you for your interest in one of our animals

IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED AS AN ADOPTER, YOU MUST:

*Have a veterinarian recommendation if you currently have an animal
*Be at least 18 years of age
*If you rent, you must have written consent from your landlord and provide a copy of the lease
*Be willing to spend time and money necessary to provide training, medical treatment and proper care for a pet
*The animals you know need have to be spayed or neutered.

REGARDING LONG-DISTANCE ADOPTIONS: While we will consider long-distance adoptions, they are complex and time consuming. When adopting long-distance, we must obtain assistance from other animal rescue people in that area to do a home-check for us as part of our adoption screening process. Transportation is the biggest obstacle for us in these cases. We are volunteers with an insurmountable task. Unfortunately we do not have the financial or time resources required to participate in transportation of dogs/cats from our foster homes to their permanent homes. LONG DISTANCE ADOPTERS MUST BE WILLING TO TAKE ON THIS RESPONSIBILITY. We hope that interested applicants will be understanding of our limitations and be willing to do their part with respect to transportation.
